A thought-provoking sentence

I was elated today because my instructor praised my dissertation proposal at the group meeting. Of course, I was not present because of the class. I learnt about it from senior sister apprentice Huai Yao. I instinctively told her, “Don’t make a fuss, you’ll make me shy”. Then Huai Yao said something very profound to me.

I was thinking, it seems like we’ve always been taught to learn to be humble in our dealings with others. But this mellow wisdom in dealing with people is supposed to stay only in the world outside of ourselves. If our hearts are constantly infested with this kind of thinking, it’s easy to fail to recognise where we are.
